One of Joe’s strongest character points is that he is not easily swayed by the loudest voice, by power, or “group speak.” Joe is his own person. He has demonstrated leadership, not follower characteristics all his life. As a first year teacher in Marine City, for example, Joe stood up against the Principal and school protocol that allowed teachers to purchase student fundraising campaign candy at cost once the campaign was over. The Principal demanded that Joe setup a table to sell the student’s candy at cost to the teaching staff. Joe refused. In his mind, the students made the effort to sell their campaign candy, and they deserved to make a profit on their sales which they use to purchase uniforms and supplies. Joe could have been fired for insubordination, but he refused to comply, and he won!
Throughout his life as long-time member and for the last two years as President of the St. Clair County RIGHT TO LIFE organization, Joe has had to face-off against the liberal mindset that regards abortion as a form of birth control without any regard for the value of a baby’s life up until birth. Joe regards the attitude as self-serving and deeply flawed because Right to Life provides “Baby Boxes” that allow young mothers to place their unwanted babies into the boxes anonymously, without repercussions. Once an unwanted baby is placed in the box and the lid is close, an alarm sounds-off at police stations and firehouses and the baby is retrieved within two minutes. Thereafter, those unwanted babies are delivered to couples who have long wanted a baby in their lives, but found the State’s adoption process to rigid to process. The Right to Life Baby Box program presents registered and vetted couples with the miracle of a baby boy or girl. The cruelty of abortion is not necessary. Joe believes in the value of life and personal accountability.
There are many other examples of Joe’s character that signals why as your District 64 representative, that your vote for Joe, is a vote for honesty and dignity.
